In 2004, N.A.P.P. introduced an affiliation arrangement for Primary Care Organisations across the United Kingdom. This built upon the learning of a 12-month pilot with 16 PCTs who were interested in supporting the development of Patient Participation Groups within their practices.

We advise Primary Care Organisations on how best to promote and develop patient participation within their practices. We can deliver training and workshops to this end using various formats and we encourage networking between the Patient Participation Groups in each area.

In the past 12 months, we have also taken a considerable interest in practice based commissioning. Our Chief Executive, Graham Box, is a frequent speaker at national and regional events on Patient and Public Engagement in Practice Based Commissioning. We work closely with the NHS Alliance to develop and share successful models that can engage patients in practice based commissioning.
