Welcome to the N.A.P.P. website

Recent changes to the General Medical Services contract  from April 2011 require GP practices to promote the proactive engagement of their patients through ‘Patient Reference Groups’ and to undertake local surveys.

N.A.P.P has over 30 years experience and expertise in promoting, supporting and developing Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) and has developed a full range of resources that can support practices and PCT's in implementing this contractual Patient Participation requirement.

Patient Participation Groups make an important contribution to the well-being of their communities. Their activities include health promotion, information provision, service delivery, fundraising and strategic input to the practice.

N.A.P.P., a registered charity since 1978, is the umbrella organisation for Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) within primary care and we have about 600 members. We are able to help with advice on getting a PPG started, as well as guidance on maintaining the Group and making it more effective. Further information on membership can be found in the affiliation section of this website. You may also call our Membership Secretary on 01932 242350.

PCT’s and PCT clusters can affiliate to N.A.P.P. (over 30 are currently affiliated) and receive advice on working with their practices to set up PPGs, as well as other matters such as engaging patients in commissioning and providing training to members of the public. GP Commissioning Consortia can also affiliate to NAPP and receive support in effectively engaging with PPGs and establishing PPG networks.

We hope you can find the information you need. If not, please contact admin@napp.org.uk
