Bromley Care Trust
A multi purpose building that could be used outside the hours of 9 - 5 Monday to Friday was the plan for this project. To justify the case for the new centre a lot of previous patient feedback research was used.
Reflecting the diversity of Penge was a fundamental principle in planning the project and for the use of the centre. A large mail shot to canvass and seek views regarding possible uses of the centre was carried out as part of the research to ensure all views were heard.
When the funding was approved for the centre as a LIFT project the previous healthy living centre plans were re-visited and further developed. Patients were immediately involved through being part of a Centre Project Team to plan the centre. In addition there were two public meetings to explain what is meant by the LIFT scheme.
Patients have been involved in evaluation through being part of the consultation process throughout.
The project feels the critical factors for success are:
- Clear aims and objectives
- Named person to lead the project
- Documented record
- Written and agreed timescales
- Creating or using existing local forum with credibility
- Troubleshoot - e.g. 1 to 1 meetings to discuss concerns with any seemingly disruptive influences - usually unfounded concerns ad.'
